Received an SOS for a set screw used to secure spline.
The hex socket of the M3 set screw securing the spline became stripped. Are there any suitable tools to remove this set screw? I'm a bit unsure about how to remove it...
Upon immediate checking, we utilized a Neji Mogura, or Socket Screw Extractor with a trick, and successfully rescued the situation.
*Trick of Neji Mogura
By combining the use of a drill, a Neji Mogura can remove any type of screw, not just hexagonal ones, regardless of the screw head's shape. For more details, refer to the explanation and video below.
1: Drill a pilot hole in the center of the screw head.
2: Select the appropriate size of DBZ-62/63/64/65 (2mm, 3mm, 4mm or 5mm), which corresponds to the pilot hole (the diameter of the drill used).
3: Apply a tip of the extractor and spin it counterclockwise while pressing downward. A power screwdriver can be also used. (slower speed recommended)
